Rocsys is shaking up the charging market with hands-free solutions that connect electric vehicles to power sources. Wanting to see how their technology performed at different temperatures, they turned to us.
THE CHALLENGE
After graduating from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, Crijn Bouman founded Europe’s first electric car fast-charging company .
Not long after ABB acquired the business, Bouman discovered a gap in the market for a hands-free charging solution for self-driving cars.
His new company, Rocsys, is now a leader in next-generation charging solutions for battery-powered vehicles with applications in public transportation, logistics, ports, airports, material handling and more.
To ensure flawless performance of Rocsys’ hands-free charging technology, the company engages in research and development .
This is where TITAN comes in.
They wanted to know if we could deliver a mobile cold room that can freeze down to minus 40 °C.
And they asked if it could also catapult temperatures up to 45 °C ?
THE SOLUTION
Rocsys’ autonomous charging system, the ROC-1, is designed for outdoor use. It must be able to withstand even the harshest weather conditions .
That is both arctic and tropical temperatures.
TITAN’s famous ArcticStore refrigerated container, which has often proven to be a testing center in the technology field, was the obvious choice .
Equipped with best-in-class insulation and a brand new energy-saving technology , it is used by TITAN’s customers in almost every industry, from catering and food storage to pharmaceuticals .
After hearing Rocsys’ needs, we suggested that they rent a 20-foot ArcticStore from us.
We also explained that we have larger and smaller variants (40 feet and 10 feet) should their needs change – and that our extremely powerful Arctic UltraFreezer could lower the temperature to -70°C if they needed to push their autonomous charging solutions even further.
DELIVERY
Rocsys’ 20-foot ArcticStore was delivered on the back of a Hiab vehicle and effortlessly moved into place at the headquarters in Delft.
The customer only needed the container for a few weeks, so renting was the smart solution . Renting from us not only means you can test a container for a very short time, but it also means you can adjust your capacity as your needs change .
Although large, ArcticStores can be easily maneuvered into place by our competent in-house delivery team.
THE RESULTS
